It’s that time of the year again. The holidays are in full swing. If you are looking for something to do with friends and family this month Austin Trail of Lights Zilker Park turns 50 this year.  There will be 17 days of lights and trails from Dec 7- Dec 21 for the whole family. For the 17 days of festivities there will be 1.25 miles of music, dancing, carnival rides, popular food trucks, snow machines, and winter activities for the whole family. The Trail of Lights is free Monday-Thursday and will include special events such as Heroes Night 12/9 and UT night 12/16. The trail will open from 7pm-10pm nightly. O Realty's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

The office of O realty has taken upon itself the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS, Ice Bucket Awareness Challenge. (Also known as the Lou Gehrig's disease) Every year, as many as 30,000 Americans are diagnosed with this destructive disease that ultimately paralyzes and kills its victims. Those taking part in the challenge dump a bucket of ice water over their heads and then post the video to any online social media website, challenging others to do it as well. The ALS Association is asking for donations to continue the search for a cure.

Closure of Lustre Pearl for New High-Rise Project

Lustre Pearl is one of Rainey St.'s original bars. Opened in 2009 and a leader in the Rainey Street Bar Movement, Lustre has been one of the hottest social gathering places in the Rainey district. The bar features a lovely outdoor patio with seating and a cozy inside atmosphere with private rooms.
 
The laid-back bar will be having its last night on March 30, 2014 making way for the new eight-story, 327 unit, Millenium Rainey residential high-rise on the bar’s site as well as a various mix of residential and retail projects that are predicted to enhance the area.
